Yoko Ono, considered by many to have exploited her late Beatle husband John Lennon’s fame in the tackiest of manners, has accused those holding a pay-per-view seance, in which an attempt to contact Lennon will be made, as being, well, tacky and exploitative. The comments, made through her spokesperson, were aimed at the April 24th pay-per-view show, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of Lennon’s death.

Please explain exactly how Yoko has exploited John’s fame in a “tacky”
I think someone still blames her for loss of their “cuddly little Beatles.”
As far as I have seen she’s been very dignified.

I’m not sure but wasn’t it Yoko who sold the rights to the beatles songs for all those
sneaker adds back in the 80’s and 90′? Also, I remember in the late 90’s, Michael Jackson
out bid Paul Macartney for the rights to all the beatles material. I’m not sure how Paul
lost the rights in the first place but I’m betting Yoko Ono played a big part in it.

I agree with Ron. Yoko has upheld the dignity of John. About the Beatles music: Yoko did everything in her power (with Paul) to regain control of the Beatle’s song book.

Yoko has a lot of nerve talking about others capitalizing on her husband
John Lennon. When she is just as guilty of doing the exact same thing.

Ron has it essentially right (though I didn’t particularly like the condescending tone in his “cuddly little Beatles” comment). Yoko, in my opinion, obviously loves (and certainly loved) John…as deeply as John loved her…AND if anything, she’s protected John’s interests for almost 27 years now. I’m certain that Yoko sold no song rights for commercials - that’s just BS. However, I believe Michael Jackson did sell one of John & Paul’s songs to Nike after he outbid Paul & Yoko for the Lennon/McCartney catalogue.
