Sheriff Howard Smith of Spotsylvania, Virginia, says that he will no longer allow detectives to receive sex on the job. Previous to this month, detectives routinely were pleasured during investigations into prostitution. It’s a dirty job, but someone has to do it. Said Smith, “I understand the feelings and concerns the citizens of this county have expressed. Because of the public’s express response, I have suspended this practice.” It is completely coincidental, of course, that his sudden concern for the public’s view occurred following a record month for expenses for sexual favors. In just the past month alone, during a single investigation, detectives engaged in four separate sexual acts, costing the department $1200.00, and once even left a $350 tip.

This isn’t ironic, this is WRONG on so many levels! The police should not be allowed to hold others accountable to a standard that they themselves can’t meet. Who will prosecute these officers? Or, as has been said, “Who monitors the proctor?”
