J.J. North’s Grand Buffet in Medford, Oregon, where Hometown Buffet founder Dennis Scott cut his restaurant teeth, both training and working at J.J. North’s Grand Buffet, has been put out of business by a local branch of the 168-restaurant Hometown Buffet chain.
“It was a surprise to all of us,” said Hometown Buffet’s general manager Kokaun Foo. “We all learned our trade from them (North’s) and we’re grateful to the Norths’ organization. They were an institution in this town to all of us.”
Of course, perhaps the ultimate irony (and insult) is that Hometown Buffet’s food sucks.
