Barbara Asher, a 56-year-old dominatrix whose working name was “Mistress Lauren M.” apparently did her job too well, and scared one of her clients to death - literally. As a result of her masterful performance, she was arrested and tried for manslaughter when her client, 53-year-old Michael Lord, had a heart attack and died on the rack. She was acquitted this week, and in a double twist of irony, CNN carried the unfortunate tagline “Dominatrix beats manslaughter rap.”
